First Win of 2016

The 2016 race season is now in full swing for the Jp Motorsports Crew. This year Greg "Wildthang" Johnson, from Bedford, IN will be behind the wheel of the Club 29 white 88 machine. With only a handful of races under his belt this young season, it didn't take long for Greg to grasp his first feature win of the season. Saturday, April 2, the Irvine, KY based crew made their way to Florence Speedway, in Union, KY. High winds, chilly temperatures, and glimpses of rain looked to put a stop to the racing festivities. But at the end of the evening there would, in fact, be racing. Greg would start his heat race in the fourth position, based on the results of the pre show draw. He maneuvered his way to the front quickly and won his preliminary heat race. Florence Speedway uses a passing points system, and the climb from fourth to first was enough to propel Greg to the pole position in the 40 lap, $3,000 feature race. On the first lap, Greg took the high side and allowed just enough space for the second place 11 car to edge past him. He managed to gain first position back by lap 2, and never looked back. He led the remaining 39 laps and took the checkered flag. Congratulations Greg! We feel this a small sign of the many accomplishments to come!

The Rain Dodger 40

The JP Motorsports crew ventured to their local track, Richmond Raceway, in Richmond, KY, on Saturday night May 17, for the 4th annual Rain Dodger 40. Tommy Bailey would qualify 5th overall in the 88 machine, earning him an inside 2nd row starting spot in heat #1 of the night. In the 10 lap heat, Bailey maneuvered his way to the second spot, & then claimed the lead heading into the final laps. His victory in the first heat put him on the pole of the 40 lap feature. In what initially began as a 20 car race, quickly became a much smaller race, due to a large 15 car pile up on the straight away between turns 2 & 3. Once racing commenced, Bailey still was the race's leader. However, he was unable to grasp that lead & fell to 2nd, where he would finish the night. The team couldn't be more proud of Tommy. He put on a great show. We are confident that this is just a small glimpse of the great things that are to come. Congrats Tommy! And thank you to all of our sponsors and to all of our fans, you guys are awesome. The support last night from all of you was tremendous!
